Long Stay Travel Insurance for the Over 80s

Retired Travel Insurance

It's no longer the preserve of the young to go away backpacking or long stay travelling for a number of months or years even. The biggest hurdle facing older people today who are wanting to go and explore the World is medical insurance for a long period of time.

In fact in many cases your long stay travel insurance will end up costing more than your flight would! If you have pre-exising medical conditions then your travel cover could end up costing more than your entire trip alone!

Unfortunately there is little way around this problem and travel insurance providers will continue to charge a premium for older people. While this might not be an issue for a short holiday to Spain it would be an issue going somewhere like Southeast Asia for six months.

We have listed below travel insurance providers who will cover you long term.

Latest Long Stay Travel News

London, November 2014

Long haul air travel is finally embracing wi-fi for the passengers. Three airlines have recently introdiced free wifi, they are the budget airline Norwegian, Turkish Airlines and another budget outfit out of Hong Kong.

Many other airlines actually offer wifi but it tends to be anything but free. Indeed on a recent Singapore Airlines flight an unlucky passenger ended up with a bill of over $700 from one long haul flight.

Other airlines such as Lufthansa, Air France and it's sister company KLM offer wifi starting from over 10 Euros per hour.

You have to ask the question is it really worth it?

Is ot not possible these days for people to go 10 or so hours and not be online? Well I guess if you are travelling Business or First class then you could probably argue it's a different story although I am guessing a lot of business people probably thrive on being offline for a few precious hours.
